“THE MATRIX”
“The Matrix” (1999), directed by the Wachowskis is a film about illusion, control, and the cost of awakening. Twenty-five years later, its questions feel more urgent than ever, especially in a world shaped by artificial intelligence and the new illusions it creates.
Questions for discussion:
What emotions did the film awaken in you? What resonated, and what didn’t?
Why do you think the Oracle appears as a simple woman in a kitchen, busy baking? What does that choice say about wisdom and truth?
Is Neo truly the One, or is “the chosen one” just another story people need to believe in?
Can true love exist if you’re not certain that you are real?
Even in the Matrix, it’s not logic or intellect that saves people, but love. Why do you think that is, and what saves us in today’s world?
Which pill would you take: the red or the blue? And why?
Do you have a “matrix” in your own life, an illusion or system that keeps you trapped? What would it take to step out of it?
Artificial intelligence is designed to create the illusion of human connection. Is that ethical or dangerous?
